Fishing(05/19/04)

Fishing(05/19/04)

Sun is up, the weather is good
Wind is blowing; not that cold
Passing boat making splash
Cutting board resting on a rock

Headless shrimp bait in a pack
Squirming bloodworms in a cup
Nervous fingers bait the hook
Spit on it to spark great hope

Find ideal spot to throw
To the edges of the visible flow
Wish to catch bigger than yesterday
Swing that fishing pole and let it stray
Fishing line lands on the bay
Teasing fishes, to bite is okay
A jerk is welcome, a promise
Does sensation to your senses
Vibration from fishing pole, a struggle
To be free from a boiling kettle

Geese Have Class Too

Geese Have Class Too(05/17/04)

Cast of shadow a relief
From sun's loving heat
Carpet of lush green grass
Teasing my mind; relaxing my eyes

Golfer struggling to pull his cart
Searching for a lost ball in the rough
Find myself in the middle of a flock
Seem not to mind if I honk or not
Amazingly they walk in pairs
Rubbing each others neck and no fears
Reach down my pocket to offer crumbs
Inquiring looks; they know I have none

Moments later there was confusion
Wild honking couple flew into congregation
Extended necks, honks, look of dismay
All proceeded to the nearest shelter; a tree
Awed with the behavior I've seen
What a class; worthy of my pen.

Where Could I Be

Where Could I Be(05/07/04)

Sparkling embers at the mountaintop
A setting for the future fruitful crop
Slash and burn that's what it was
Weakened the foundation of soil's crust

Everlastings bloom to the edges;
freePick and wrap with a bark of pine tree
Looking the gorges where children play
Scramble to pick whatever you give away

A rosy cheeks girl with a baby on her back
Trying to sell a nice tribal rack
Rainbow garb, tattooed hand stretch for aid
Lincoln will get you a smile and a wave

Children came around tagging my shirt
Asking to have picture taken at worth
Shyly I walk away with their dismay
Down the manmade lake I ride a dingy
Eucalyptus trees still stood with pride
Lining up the ever beautiful roadside
