Just like everyone

Just like everyone(04/27/04)

Nymph crawling from beneath the ground
Been living their for a long time
Sipping nutrients from roots of a tree
Burrowing; making tunnels of highway
Shrouded life they go their way
Seventeen years in solitary

Up a tree or a wall; to anchor their feet
Split their back shell to transform their faith
Hanging from the empty shell upside down
Hardening wings; limbs; beautiful one
Motionless for four to six days
Then sit up to free from an umbilical harness
Out from the darkness of the ground
Time for the males to make a hellish sound
To attract those lovely females abound
Roaming; looking just like everyone
Mating is a fancy; later laying eggs in frenzy
On every soft twigs fitting for their baby
Two months later eggs hatch to a nymph
Drop to the ground and burrow to the deep
While the moms and dads long been gone
Eaten by prey or vanish as plan
Cicada Brod X is their name
They show up in a cycle of seventeen
